The New Deal programs were initiated by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt between the years of 1933 and 1943. Major programs included the Civilian Conservation Corps, the Works Progress Administration, and the Tennessee Valley Authority. Some programs are still in effect today, such as Social Security.
The New Deal provided homes for thousands of homeless Americans, and employment for millions. Employment included work for artists, writers, and musicians, as well as construction of buildings and bridges.
Most importantly, the New Deal gave Americans hope.
